Under 11s Come Out On Top
Erin Go Bragh 4-12
St. Peters 4-6
The Erin Go Bragh Under 11 Football team welcomed the Clann Mhuire and Ballyboughal combination called St. Peters to a very wet Hunters Run on Saturday. The rain overnight had left the pitch waterlogged in places but credit to both teams who soldiered on. It was the hosts who started brightly with James Padden and Glen Campion putting Erin Go Bragh into the lead with Aoife O’Sullivan and Sean Vickers also contributing. The home side enjoyed a good 10 minutes but it was St. Peters who dominated the final 10 minutes and brought themselves back into the tie. Good defending from Joe Humphries, Matthew Madigan and a fine save from goalkeeper Eijlah Kavanagh probably prevented the hosts from going in at half time in the lead.
The second half saw Erin Go Bragh again get out of the blocks quickly with Lee Doyle and Lee Byrne having a big part to play in Erin Go Braghs opening scores. Matthew Nitoei, Curtis King and Cian Forde also enjoyed a strong second half starting very brightly and keeping the St. Peters forwards on their toes. Again after putting themselves in a commanding position though Erin Go Bragh allowed St. Peters to come back into the game. But it was scores from Amy O’Carroll, Darren Daly and C Pownall which sealed the win for the hosts.
