Erin Go Bragh 0-11
Whitehall Colmcille 4-15
Erin go Bragh adult hurlers suffered their first defeat of the season today as they went down to a powerful Whitehall Colmcilles in St. Catherine's Park Lucan.
The D15 men are three out of three in the league but Whitehall Colmcilles in the Championship would be the first a real test of the team.
Erin go Bragh lined out with an unfamiliar looking team as a number of withdrawals left the team down to bare bones. The first half was a very competitive affair with neither team taking a strong hold. Kevin Larkin, Patrick Quinn and Damien O'Donoghue kept EGB within touching distance. Whitehall managed a well-worked goal to give them 1-5 to EGB's six points at the interval.
Whitehall were strong and organised in defence as EGB had to work very hard to get each score. At the other end Whitehall found their rhythm and added more goals to some well taken points. The Whitehall goalie was rarely under threat but was quick to react to keep Damien O'Donoghue's angled drive out of the net. Recent match-winner Moses Wanjigo was unfortunate not to improvise a goal from an audacious reverse flick which rolled agonisingly across the open goal mouth. Erin go Bragh worked hard throughout but weren't able to draw in the Whitehall men. The match finished with a flattering 4-15 for Whitehall Colmcilles and 11 points for Erin go Bragh.
