Junior Hurling: Erin Go Bragh v Crumlin

Erin Go Bragh 4-17

Crumlin 3-4

The Erin Go Bragh hurling team got their season off to the best possible start with a big win over Crumlin. The game originally set for Pearse Park was played in St. Catherines Park on Sunday. The home team got off to a great start with Robert Watson and Kevin Larkin scoring some well worked points. The loss of Aidan Watson early in the game will be a worry for the team, but the performances of Robert Watson and Kevin Larkin were an encouraging sign with both players proving a thorn in the Crumlin defences side. They scored 1-13 between them. The Erin Go Bragh back line gave little away and it wasn’t until the last ten minutes of the first half that Crumlin registered their first score. The second half proved to be more of the same with the result never in any doubt. Karl Johnson and his selectors John Whelan and Ray Kenny will be encouraged by the teams opening win. But the players and management know that there will have to be an improvement on some aspects of their game as tougher challenges will certainly lie ahead this season

Team: G Dalton, T Kennedy, M Duffy, C Dolan, K Kenny, J Quinn (J Harding), D Kennedy, K Larkin (0-7), R Watson (1-6), B Farrell (K Scanlon 0-1), G Brady (1-2), D O’Donoghue (1-1) (J Monaghan), A Watson (D Mulcahy (1-0))
