Hurlers Claim Win by Narrowest of Margins
The Erin go Bragh Junior Hurlers maintained their 100% start in Division 8 of the league this weekend with a hard fought victory over Civil Service in St. Catherine's Park. Erin go Bragh started brightly and set a high level of intensity from the get go with the full forwards and half forwards making it very difficult for Civil Service to play out from the back. Aidan Watson, Robert Watson, Daniel Mulcahy all registered scores in the first half. EGB were winning the midfield battle too with Kevin Larkin and Colm Gaughan dominating both puck outs and Gavin Brady and Damien O'Donoghue working hard. Civil Service made the most of their few opportunities to attack in the first half but it wasn't enough to get close to the Littleplace men who led 4-6 to 1-4 at half time.
The second half proved a different story though with Civil Service mounting a tremendous comeback with a flurry of goals late on to bring the tie right down to the wire.
In the end Erin go Bragh did enough to hold out for a two point victory with Robert and Aidan Watson striking over vital points in reply to the onslaught of goals from Civil Service.
