Under 15 Camogie Push Lucan All the Way in Challenge
Lucan Sarsfields 6-8
Erin Go Bragh 5-3
The Erin Go Bragh under 15 camogie team arrived at Adamstown to a very heavy hailstone shower on Sunday morning for a challenge game with Lucan Sarsfields. This did little to stop the girls storming into 2-1 to 1-1 lead after 10 minutes on the clock. Captain Amy Flanagan pushed the team on from midfield ably assisted by Amy Daly. Aoife O'Sullivan took off from where she left off last season scoring 2-1. Lucan, taken aback introduced some of their first team players to steady the ship and clawed back the early deficit in the last 10 minutes of the half leading 2-4 to 2-1 at the interval.
On the resumption of the game Lucan added a goal and a point to stretch their lead to 7. The EGB girls showed the never say die attitude that brought them championship glory last year and some great play by Aoibhinn Burke Amy Carroll Keri Redmond and Megan Owens resulted in 3 goals from the deadly Aoife O'Sullivan. Unfortunately with no subs available the 13 girls started to suffer physically and Lucan shot over some excellent points and added a few goals that Aoibhe Kearney could do nothing to stop. Despite a great save by Aoibhe Kearney and some great defending by Rachel Murray Anna Omotayo and Amy Flanagan and great forward work by Katie Kearney Ellie Manning and Jade Omotayo the Lucan girls pushed on and took a six point lead. Two super points, one each from Keri Redmond and Aoife O'Sullivan kept the EGB girls in it but Lucan finished strong with 1-1 and ran out 8 point winners. A great game and start to the season for the girls.
