Under 14 Footballers Score Impressive Win
Erin Go Bragh 9-4
Following a great win in the camogie earlier in the day most of the girls togged out again to welcome Cuala to Hunters Run in their first under 14 football league game. In very sticky underfoot conditions the girls made a brisk start and a brace of goals each from Anna Omotayo and Aoife O'Sullivan gave the EGB girls a commanding lead in the first 15 mins. Cuala did respond with a fine goal but the EGB girls hit back with another 2 goals one each for Katie Kearney and Ellen Gribben and points from Katie Ellen and Aoife put the EGB girls ahead at half time 6-3 to 1-0. Great goalkeeping from Aoibhe Kearney and strong performances in defence from Amy Carroll Aoibhinn Burke Leah Ivory Rachel Murray and Abbie Murray kept the Cuala girls. Super work in the engine room midfield from captain Ellen Gribben and Keri Redmond kept a great supply of ball to the forwards in the first half. In the second half it was hard for the girls to keep up the pace of the first half and Cuala kept coming at them. However when Cuala scored the EGB girls responded with their own score to keep the comfortable margin. Megan Owens switched to defence and continued her strong overall performance while Ellie Manning and Katie Kearney ran their socks off in the forwards. Goals from Ellen Gribben Anna Omotayo and Aoife O'Sullivan and the last point of the game from Abbie Murray sealed a comprehensive win for Erin Go Bragh on a final score of 9-4 to 4-1.
