Camogie Feile Final v Crumlin

Camogie Feile Team Put In Brave Effort

Erin Go Bragh 2-0

Crumlin 3-1

Erin Go Bragh under14 girls played Crumlin in the delayed Division 5 Feile Final in the fantastic venue of the Abbotstown GAA Centre on Sunday.  EGB won the toss and elected to play with the breeze hoping to use it to their advantage. EGB had plenty of possession in the early stages but could not find the finishing touch to their early dominance.  As does happen the first Crumlin attack from a break away ended with them scoring a goal.  The EGB girls kept up the pressure and were eventually rewarded when Aoibhe Kearney bundled the sliothar into the net following a save by the Crumlin keeper.  Yet again Crumlin broke in almost the last play of the half to score a point to leave the half time score EGB 1-0 Crumlin 1-1.

EGB were playing into a strong wind but exchanges were even in the early stages of the second half.  However Crumlin had a few attacks and one of them yielded another goal.  EGB 4 points down and had it all to do. But the girls responded and Ellen Gribben picked the ball up in midfield and after a strong run let fly with the left boot into the top corner of the net.  Game on with only the minimum in it.  In the end however the Crumlin girls found a little bit extra and a speculative shot found it's way to the net with time almost up.  A few minutes stoppage time ensued but the EGB girls could do nothing to stop victory going to the Crumlin girls.    A second final loss after the football championship defeat 3 weeks ago for these fantastic U14 girls who put in so much effort all year and they are a credit to the club.  Well done and we will be back stronger next year.
