Under 14 Camogie Team Storm Into Championship Final
Erin Go Bragh 9-2
St. Vincents 0-1
Erin Go Braghs under 14 camogie team stormed inti the championship final on Saturday with a resounding win over St. Vincemts in Huters run. After suffering an agonising defeat to Ballyboden in their opening group game of the championship the Under 14 girls bounced back with a comprehensive victory over Good Counsel last weekend to qualify for this semi final against St Vincents.
With a few late withdrawals the girls were left with the minimum 13 players against a strong St Vincents team and what a performance they gave. From the throw in, the hosts midfield pairing of Amy Daly and Niamh Maher dominated the game and gave the EGB forwards plenty of good ball to work with. Aoife O'Sullivan and Aoife Cullen in the full forward line were to prover eal thorns in the St Vincents defences side for the game and were clinical when the chances came. The half forward line of Ellen Gribben Megan Owens and forwards Ellie Manning worked tirelessly to move the ball forward quickly and never let the Vincents backs out easily.
The magnificent defence of captain Amy Carroll Amy Flanagan Keri Redmond Rachel Murray and Aoibhinn Burke snuffed out any opportunity Vincents had and even though it was a quiet day for goalkeeper Katie Kearney when she came out field she played very well.
The under 14s will now face Raheny in the final and if the girls play as well as they have done in their last 2 games they will bring home the championship.
