The Erin Go Bragh U14 Camogie team set off on Saturday morning full of excitement for the 2015 Camogie Feile Division 4 hosted in Naomh Olaf Sandyford. To our surprise and delight the girls got to parade with the other 7 participating teams behind a lone piper. Then it was down to playing the 3 group matches. Led by a fantastic captain for the day Amy Flanagan the team got off to an ideal start beating Faughs/Celtic. They held the opposition scoreless with super displays from Amy Carroll, Aoife Cullen and Jade Omotayo. Great scores from Amy Daly, Anna Omotayo and Aoife O'Sullivan ensured a comfortable victory.
In the second game the girls came up against stronger opposition in the form of Commercials and in a very energy sapping contest the Erin Go Bragh girls prevailed by 3 points. Great defence from Ciara Conway, Niamh Maher and Aoibhinn Burke and the midfield engine room of Amy Daly and Ellen Gribben laid the foundations for for victory.
With 2 wins already bagged it was all down to the last game against the hosts Naomh Olaf and the winner would top the group. It was a titanic struggle and a super goal from Aoife O'Sullivan gave the girls some momentum and something to hold onto. Naomh Olaf threw everything at the girls in the dying stages to peg them back but 2 marvellous blocks from Aoife Cullen and goalkeeper Amy Caroll saved the day and Erin Go Bragh won the group. Great displays in this game and the previous 2 also from Keri Redmond Leah Ivory Ellie Manning Megan Owens Rachel Murray and Kim Scully. A special note for Lauren Doherty who was part of the panel and played a few minute in the second game but couldn't play any further part due to a foot injury.
The girls were full of confidence for the semi final against local rivals St Brigids who were runners up in Group B but unfortunately it turned out to be one game too many for the super Erin Go Bragh girls and St Brigids ran out comfortable winners. St Brigids went on to win the final against Lucan. Thanks to all the parents who came out to support the girls and for all the food provided which went down a treat. A special thanks to Linda Cullen who organised the sponsorship for the team, getting the kit for the girls and providing lunches for all the players. It was a great day for the girls and I hope they will remember it with pride for both themselves and the club. They put in a super effort and we are all very proud of them.
