Under 13 Footballers Just Loose Out in Cracker
Erin Go Bragh 5-5
On a perfect day for football the girls of Erin Go Bragh and Clontarf served up a cracker in the Under 13 football championship on Sunday. Both teams went on the attack from the start with Clontarf having the upper hand in the early stages despite the best efforts of Katie Kearney in goal, Keri Redmond Ciara Conway and Rachel Murray in the full back line. The girls in green certainly had their backs to the wall with the score 3-4 to 0-3 after 20 mins to Clontarf but the midfield of Ellen Gribben and Evelyn Osunde began to dominate and a super performance in the closing stages of the first half from forwards Aoife O'Sullivan Megan Owens Ellie Manning Leah Ivory Abbie Murray and Claire O'Carroll saw the sides go in level at half time 3-4 apiece.
Aoife O'Sullivan opened the scoring on resumption but this was to be the only time the EGB girls would take the lead. Clontarf responded and despite the best efforts of the half back line of Aoibhinn Burke Kim Scully and Amy Carroll Clontarf went into a 7 point lead. To their credit the EGB girls never gave up and 2 great saves from Aoibhe Kearney and tremendous work from all the girls resulted in a storming finish but they couldn't catch the Clontarf girls who ran out 4 point winners.
