Under 12 Hurlers Lookng for Your Support on Saturday
Where do we start and finish each year? Well we all want to start and finish on a high, that usually comes with wins in games or at least feeling you did your best. Last November we finished up our hurling campaign with a massive question to ourselves, can we do any better? We lost every game and the team were very down with their achievements. December comes around training finishes and Christmas is around the corner, we go to "Base" in Celbridge thanks to our organising committee of Michelle and Maggs, who always have the Goody Bags sorted!, the bus driver did not have Google Maps but found his way thanks to Michael, Dave and Gary. What a night of craic was had by all, with some healthy competition at the bowling. Then light bulb moment, this is a great team, this team has potential, that was the talk of the mentors over our Chicken Nuggets.
Roll on January we said!
We commenced training with a pep talk that Brian Cody would be proud of from Dave Bradish, supported by the rest us. He told the team this is preseason and you are all full after your Turkey dinners over the Christmas. They were told they were going to be fit by the end of the month and they were not going to like training for a while, the revival began. We commenced our grading games with a win, then another. We were placed in a difficult group with Big clubs, but we did not dare be beaten. David, Ben, Sam McGrath, Glen, Evan, Keelan, Cian, Ciaran, Darren, Keane, James, Luke, Tomás, Seán, Shane, Daniel, Ryan, these are the players that have changed everything this year, their commitment to training, to practicing, to trying harder, to never give up. These are special players, and not just for the U12's, but for Erin Go Bragh. The Boys In Green. These players put in a very difficult year in 2015, you would not think that today, we are so proud of each and everyone of them, our team.
We need everyone out to support this special group of players on Saturday 22nd October 12:15 Hunters Run. We are playing Kilmacud Crokes and it is winner takes all for this division. Win lose or draw these guys deserve recognition for the turnaround they have completed, they are magnificent, they are a team that I know I and all the Mentors can say how happy it is to play such a small part in this story. Let's ensure this team feel special on Saturday 22nd October. Let's encourage them for one last game, as I know 2016 is the year this team became great, and we will embrace this time for many hard years to come! COYBIG.
